Discover How Your Ears Hold the Key
Auricular Acupuncture to Reset and Refresh
Why Your Ear Holds the Key to Resetting the Nervous System
Your ears do more than help you hear. They can also help your body relax, reset, and heal. The outer ear is like a small map of the whole body. In traditional healing systems, experts believe that specific points on the ear connect to organs, emotions, and energy pathways throughout your body. By gently stimulating these points, we can send messages to the brain and body to reduce stress, calm the mind, and support healing.
Science backs this up. A major nerve called the vagus nerve runs through the ear. This nerve helps control the “rest and digest” part of your nervous system. When this nerve is activated in a gentle way, your body can relax. You may feel more clear-headed, calm, and even more connected to yourself.
This is the power of auricular acupuncture. It uses small, sterile needles placed in the ear to support your body and mind. People often leave a session feeling refreshed, grounded, and better able to handle the stress in their lives.
What Is Auricular Acupuncture?

Auricular acupuncture is a healing technique that focuses only on the ear. Practitioners place small needles into exact points on the outer ear. These points are linked to other areas of the body and to your emotional health. Stimulating them helps rebalance your system.
Auricular acupuncture can help with many common problems, including:
- Stress and anxiety
- Trouble sleeping
- Emotional overwhelm
- Trauma and PTSD
- Chronic pain
- Addictive behaviors
- Mood swings
- Feeling stuck or disconnected
It works by helping the body shift into a healing state. The treatment is safe, natural, and deeply calming. It does not require a diagnosis, and you do not need to talk through all your feelings. The body leads the way.

The History of Auricular Acupuncture
Auricular acupuncture has both ancient roots and modern science behind it.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
In Chinese medicine, the ear has long been seen as a reflection of the whole body. Practitioners noticed that the shape of the ear is similar to the shape of a baby curled in the womb. Different parts of the ear connect to different body systems. For example, the earlobe relates to the head, while the upper rim links to the spine.
Healers would apply pressure or needles to the ear to treat pain, imbalance, or emotional distress. This practice is still used across Asia today.
The Modern Revival
In the 1950s, a French doctor named Paul Nogier studied how treating the ear affected pain in other areas. He created detailed maps of over 200 points on the ear and showed how they could be used for healing. His work gave rise to modern auriculotherapy.
In the 1970s, auricular acupuncture gained more attention through the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). They created a five-point protocol for people recovering from addiction, trauma, or mental health struggles. This protocol is now used in treatment centers, jails, refugee camps, and recovery programs around the world.
Today, auricular acupuncture is used as a tool for healing stress, trauma, emotional imbalance, and more.
What to Expect During Your Session
Each session with Lauren is calm, supportive, and focused on your needs.
Here’s What Happens:
- You will sit or recline in a peaceful space.
- Lauren will ask a few questions to understand how you are feeling.
- She will place small, sterile needles into 3 to 5 points on each ear.
- You will then rest quietly, or carry on a therapeutic conversation for about 30 to 45 minutes.
- You may feel warmth, tingling, or a sense of calm wash over you.
There is no pressure to talk or explain anything. You are encouraged to breathe, let go, and simply receive.
Many people feel lighter and more centered after just one session. Some feeel a burst of emotion or clarity. Others experience better sleep, less pain, and a deeper sense of peace.
Who Can Benefit?
Auricular acupuncture is helpful for a wide range of people. You may benefit if:
- You feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained
- You are in recovery from addiction or trauma
- You have trouble sleeping or relaxing
- You are dealing with chronic pain or fatigue
- You are in therapy and want a body-based support
- You feel stuck, scattered, or disconnected from yourself
This treatment supports both emotional and physical healing. It works well on its own or alongside therapy, coaching, nutrition, and other wellness paths.
A Body-Based Way to Heal
Sometimes we try to think or talk our way out of pain, but the body holds onto stress in deeper ways. Words can help, but they are not always enough.
Auricular acupuncture gives your body another way to heel. It lets the nervous system calm down so the mind and heart can follow. It invites the body to release tension, fear, or old emotions without needing to relive the past.
This is why many trauma-informed therapists and holistic practitioners use this method. It creates a sense of safety in the body. From that place, healing becomes possible.
Where to Find Lauren
Lauren’s office is located in downtown Prescott, Arizona, just half a block from the historic Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza, which happens to be the same area of Arizona’s old capital building. Prescott was twice the capital of the Arizona Territory in the 1800s. The original capital buildings stood near today’s courthouse plaza. Though rebuilt in 1916, the site remains a symbol of Prescott’s political roots.
